'Hot Stove League' Returns as Japanese Remake, Premieres March 28 in Japan & March 29 on SBS 'Hot Stove League' Returns as Japanese Remake, Premieres March 28 in Japan & March 29 on SBS</font> 등록일2026.03.19 The acclaimed series Hot Stove League is getting a Japanese remake. Korean viewers will also be able to watch the Japan-produced version on SBS. Based on the 2019 SBS drama Hot Stove League , the Japanese remake of the same title (hereafter, Hot Stove League Japanese Version) will launch in Japan on March 28. In Korea, it will air on SBS starting March 29. The project is a Korea-Japan co-production from StudioS (under SBS) and Japanese production company NTT Docomo Studio && Live. The original Hot Stove League became a cultural phenomenon in Korea. It follows Baek Seung-soo (played by Namkoong Min), the newly appointed general manager of the perennial last-place pro baseball team Dreams, as he rebuilds the club through bold reforms. The series peaked at 20.8% viewership and won multiple awards, including Best Drama (TV) at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards, proving both its quality and buzz―and the global potential of the IP. A remake in baseball-loving Japan is drawing major attention locally. The timing also lines up with the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) and the opening of both countries' pro baseball seasons in March, which is likely to boost interest from fans and viewers. Kamenashi Kazuya―member of KAT-TUN, singer, and sports caster―stars as the general manager of Dreams (the role played by Namkoong Min in the original). Nagahama Neru, an actress and former member of Sakurazaka46, takes on the counterpart to operations manager Lee Se-young (played by Park Eun-bin in the original). Nomura Mansai, from a distinguished Kyogen family and a prominent Japanese actor, appears as the club president who clashes with the GM (the role played by Oh Jung-se in the original). The remake adds fresh twists. DRIPPIN's Cha Junho appears as Korean player Lim Min-jong, and actor Heo Dong-won―who played pitcher Kang Doo-ki in the original―makes a special appearance, heightening anticipation among fans in both countries. Hot Stove League Japanese Version will premiere in Korea on SBS on March 29 at 11:05 p.m., with one episode released each week. In Japan, it will stream on local OTT Lemino and air on premium pay channel WOWOW. (SBS Entertainment News | Kang Sun-ae)
From Red Carpet to Premiere: Berlinale Buzz Captured in 'My Name' Vlog From Red Carpet to Premiere: Berlinale Buzz Captured in 'My Name' Vlog 등록일2026.03.19 The film My Name , officially invited to the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, has dropped a Berlinale vlog after earning rave reactions. Released on the 18th, the “Berlinale Vlog” tracks the team's dazzling journey―from a giddy departure at Incheon International Airport to a glam red carpet, the premiere packed with local moviegoers, and a heartfelt meetup with the Korean community in Berlin. Despite the dreary weather, director Jeong Ji-yeong and actors Yeom Hye-ran and Shin Woo-bin lit up the carpet with bright smiles. The standing ovation and cheers that burst out with the end credits made the film's global buzz feel real. The vlog's premiere footage captures the nerves right before showtime and the surge of applause as soon as the credits rolled, bringing the emotion in the room to life. During the post-screening Q&&A, director Jeong offered thoughtful insights into the film's setting. Just like the premiere, the second-day screening sold out as well, with warm, borderless connection flowing between the team and local audiences. A special welcome event with Berlin's Korean community added meaning to the trip. Yeom Hye-ran shared, “I watched the film for the first time yesterday at its world premiere in Berlin. Thank you for the warm welcome yesterday and again today. I'm truly grateful.” Making his big-screen debut with My Name , Shin Woo-bin said, “It's my first film ever, and I'm excited and nervous to have such a great experience in such a great place.” On working with Yeom Hye-ran, he added, “To come across like a real mother and son, I treated her like my actual mom. I think that helped make the film feel more harmonious,” raising expectations for the duo's cross-generational chemistry on screen. Opening April 15 in theaters nationwide, My Name follows 18-year-old Young-ok, who wants to shed a name he finds old-fashioned, and his mother Jeong-sun, who seeks to recover long-buried memories from Jeju in 1949. CGV Hosts Ahn Sung-ki Memorial Retrospective, Screening Eight Classics CGV Hosts Ahn Sung-ki Memorial Retrospective, Screening Eight Classics 등록일2026.03.19 CGV will spotlight the legacy of Ahn Sung-ki, a defining figure of Korean cinema, with a special retrospective. The theater chain announced on the 19th that the “Ahn Sung-ki Memorial Retrospective,” celebrating his life in acting and his body of work, will run from March 25 to April 14 at the CGV Apgujeong Arthouse ART1 Hall, also known as the “Ahn Sung-ki Hall.” The event honors the late actor, who left an indelible mark on Korean film. Ahn Sung-ki passed away in January at age 74. Over more than half a century, he appeared in over 100 films and became a symbol of Korean cinema, leaving a lasting impact. The retrospective will screen eight landmark works across his career, from his child-actor turn in the 1960 classic The Housemaid to Good Windy Day, Whale Hunting, Chilsu and Mansu, Nowhere to Hide, Radio Star, Unbowed, and Cassiopeia. The lineup is curated to trace his full filmography and his significance in Korean film history. The Korean Film Archive will support the screenings in solidarity with the program's purpose. This memorial series also marks the 10th anniversary of the CGV Apgujeong Arthouse ART1 “Ahn Sung-ki Hall.” The hall was established as part of CGV Arthouse's “Korean Filmmaker Tribute Project,” which dedicates theaters to filmmakers who elevated Korean cinema and revisits their achievements. Why Netflix Hit 'Mongle Mongle Mongle' Is Winning Hearts with Lee Hyo-ri ♥ Lee Sang-soon's Love Mentoring Why Netflix Hit 'Mongle Mongle Mongle' Is Winning Hearts with Lee Hyo-ri ♥ Lee Sang-soon's Love Mentoring 등록일2026.03.19 SBS Special's Mongle Mongle Mongle is spreading by word of mouth for its warmhearted leads Lee Hyo-ri and Lee Sang-soon―and the pure charm of its cast―and it's still ruling the Netflix charts in week two. SBS Special's Mongle Mongle Mongle follows young adults with developmental disabilities (hereafter “Mongle participants”) who dream of love but haven't had the chance. Over eight weeks, they receive dating coaching from “counselors” Lee Hyo-ri and Lee Sang-soon as they search for their first love. Two of the three total episodes have aired, and the show's authentic take on the cast's dating journeys and growth is sparking stronger buzz by the day. The numbers back it up. Episode 2 ranked No. 1 among terrestrial channels in its time slot, and the key 20-49 demo doubled versus the premiere. Plus, after debuting on the charts in week one, it stayed on Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows in South Korea Today in week two, landing at No. 8 as of March 17―cutting through the dopamine overload to keep its glow-up going. A big reason for the rare success and wide praise for a romance show centered on young adults with developmental disabilities is the presence of Lee Hyo-ri and Lee Sang-soon. They go far beyond the usual mentor role and serve as the show's emotional core and symbol of sincerity. Most striking is their mentoring style. They don't just watch dates and analyze from afar. They meet the Mongle participants face-to-face after each date, swap honest recaps, and troubleshoot together. They're “hands-on mentors” who spark real change, not just reaction shots. Their support even extends beyond the studio. Lee Hyo-ri went shopping with Oh Ji-hyun to help style her for a second blind date, while Lee Sang-soon co-planned a Namiseom train trip with Jung Ji-won, who was traveling without a guardian for the first time―gentle help that supports independence, not just romance. Their attitude stands out, too. When people look at young adults with developmental disabilities, the gaze often leans toward “protection” or “pity.” Lee Hyo-ri and Lee Sang-soon choose a different lens. They don't treat them as “special cases,” but as juniors experiencing first love, keeping a natural, respectful distance. They neither over-shelter nor push too hard. Instead, they empathize, and step in only when needed. This approach lets the Mongle participants take the lead―learning love and building relationships on their own terms. It also invites viewers to see their stories not as “exceptions,” but as universal emotions anyone can relate to. Producer Go Hye-rin, who created and directed Mongle Mongle Mongle , explained why the duo were cast: “We needed adults who would see young people with developmental disabilities as 'young people' before 'disability,' and that's why we invited the two.” It's hard to imagine anyone else helming this counseling center. Mongle Mongle Mongle , Korea's first dating reality series featuring young adults with developmental disabilities, airs its final Episode 3 on March 22 (Sun) at 11:05 p.m. (SBS Entertainment News | Kang Sun-ae)
