NewJeans MINJI Says to Fans, We're Not Stopping. Just Going Deeper
등록일2025.05.09
MINJI, a member of the currently on-hiatus group NewJeans, has reached out to her waiting fans, asking them to look forward to their future activities. Celebrating her birthday on the 7th, MINJI shared through a social media account that was created with her members, I've been busier than expected with this and that. She then emphasized, I hope my members, our fans, and I can all be happy. That's our biggest goal. MINJI also expressed her philosophy, saying, Some might think it's foolish to chase after what makes me happy. But isn't it too harsh on oneself to give up present happiness for a future that may never come? To her waiting fans, MINJI said, I miss the times when we shared our love for music together, but I'm always looking forward to what's ahead. We're not stopping here; it might seem like we're at a standstill, but I believe we're definitely going deeper. Photo=Reporter Baik Seung-Chul (SBS Entertainment News | Kang Kyung-youn)
NewJeans Faces Extended Hiatus as Court Rejects Appeal
등록일2025.04.17
The court has dismissed an appeal filed by the five members of the group NewJeans against their agency, which sought to prevent the enforcement of a previous injunction related to their management and advertising contracts. On the 16th, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50, led by Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon, ruled against the appeal submitted by the NewJeans members. Last month, on the 21st, the court had accepted an injunction request from their agency, ADOR, which sought to maintain its management rights and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts. This decision has now extended the period during which NewJeans will be unable to perform. Two days after the initial ruling, on the 23rd, the members of NewJeans addressed their fans during a performance in Hong Kong, stating, We have decided to comply with the court's decision and halt all activities. It wasn't an easy choice, but it's necessary for us at this time, they said, visibly emotional. The five members of NewJeans are currently involved in a separate legal battle to confirm the validity of their exclusive contracts with the agency. (SBS Entertainment News | Kang Kyung-youn)

I feel a bit sorry for the silence, but I'm using this time to recharge myself. I promise to meet you all with even more brightness and happiness in the future. In a final message, a member shared their gratitude, It's still amazing to me how many people cherish us. It's something I can't fully grasp, but I'm always thankful. We Don't Want Them to Suffer Anymore NewJeans Fandom Submits Petition in Support of NJZ Activities
등록일2025.03.13
The fandom of the group NewJeans has submitted a petition to the court in support of the members' independent activities under NJZ. The NewJeans fandom, Bunnies, announced on March 13 that they submitted a petition signed by over 30,000 domestic and international fans to the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 (Presiding Judge Kim Sang-hoon). The petition reportedly includes signatures collected from fans worldwide since the 24th of last month. In the petition, Bunnies stated, HYBE and Chairman Bang Si-hyuk have intentionally discriminated against the members, and this hostile environment is unlikely to change, adding that it is too harsh to bind and neglect NJZ members in a place where they cannot pursue their dreams and lives. The NewJeans fandom expressed, If the members are forced to continue exclusive activities in a hostile environment where trust has been broken, it will only prolong their suffering, and fans will no longer be able to enjoy the members' music and entertainment activities with joy. They urged the court to dismiss ADOR's injunction request. Earlier, ADOR filed an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court to prohibit the NewJeans members, who had notified the company of their contract termination and embarked on independent activities, from maintaining their agency status and signing advertising contracts. The court will conclude the hearing after receiving additional materials by the 14th. kykang@sbs.co.kr (SBS Entertainment News | Kang Kyung-youn)

[SBS Star] NewJeans (NJZ) DANIELLE's Sister Olivia Marsh Admits to Plagiarism Allegations & Apologizes
등록일2025.02.25
Singer-songwriter Olivia Marsh, K-pop girl group NewJeans (NJZ)'s member DANIELLE's sister, has admitted to plagiarism allegations surrounding her song Backseat and issued an official apology. On February 24, Olivia Marsh's management agency MPLIFY released a statement saying, Hi, we would like to address the recent issue involving Olivia Marsh. One of the double title tracks from her first album 'Meanwhile,' released on the 13th, 'Backseat,' sparked controversy over its similarities to Isaac Dunbar's 'Onion Boy.' The agency continued, After comparing the two songs, we acknowledged that Isaac Dunbar's claims were valid. We've since reached an amicable agreement with him and are currently handling the necessary steps, including negotiating songwriting credits and updating official credits, to ensure the original creator's rights are respected. MPLIFY added, We're taking this as a serious learning experience and will thoroughly review our internal processes to prevent something like this from happening again. We sincerely apologize to Isaac Dunbar and to all fans who were disappointed by this situation. The controversy began when American singer-songwriter Isaac Dunbar himself called out Backseat ―which credited Olivia Marsh as the lyricist, composer, and arranger―for its similarities to his song Onion Boy. Isaac Dunbar previously had taken to his Instagram, stating, My song I wrote in my bedroom in 2019 was completely stolen, directly accusing Olivia Marsh of plagiarism. Olivia Marsh, widely known as the older sister of NewJeans (NJZ)'s DANIELLE, made her solo debut in October 2024. (Credit= 'livvy__marsh' X, SBS Entertainment News/Baik Seung-chul) (SBS Star)
Bang Si-hyuk Blocks Performance vs Completely False ... NJZ Faces Conflict Ahead of New Start
등록일2025.02.20
[SBS Entertainment News | Kang Kyung-youn] The group NewJeans has announced that they will be starting their activities under a new name, NJZ. However, a dispute has arisen regarding claims that Bang Si-hyuk has obstructed the members' performances. On the afternoon of the 19th, the parents of NJZ members claimed through a joint account that Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of HYBE, pressured them to cancel their performances. The parents stated, We heard from a ComplexCon official that Chairman Bang personally called American representatives to ensure that NJZ's performances would be canceled. We are extremely upset and angry. HYBE seems to view the members merely as a means to make money, just as they did before. They expressed their frustration. In particular, the parents emphasized that they received no response when they sent a complaint email to Chairman Bang, stating, If you have so much to say, why not just call us directly? Why is the chairman of HYBE getting involved in a dispute with Ador? The NJZ members have officially announced that they will be embarking on independent activities, starting with a performance in Hong Kong next month, and will be re-debuting under the name NJZ instead of NewJeans. The parents of the members also shared, We are excited and thrilled to finally show a new side to our global fans, free from the terrible experiences with HYBE and Ador, and we are working hard to prepare for the performances. They conveyed this message to the fans. In response to the claims made by the NJZ members, Ador stated, Ador has never pressured the cancellation of NewJeans' Hong Kong performance. Chairman Bang has also confirmed that he has had no contact regarding the Hong Kong performance. They refuted the allegations. Furthermore, Ador asserted, We requested the organizers to use the official team name 'NewJeans' as we had asked domestic media, and we asked that the performances be conducted through Ador based on the exclusive contract. They emphasized that the exclusive contract with NewJeans is still valid. [SBS Entertainment News | Kang Kyung-youn] (SBS Star)
'NJZ Announces New Start' Will Hani's Visa Issuance Affect Domestic Activities?
등록일2025.02.12
As the members of NewJeans announced their new start under the name NJZ, there are claims that Hani's visa issuance could be a significant variable for their domestic activities. Recently, Lee Jin-ho, a reporter for the YouTube channel Entertainment President, stated, Hani's E-6 visa expired earlier this month, and while NewJeans' agency, Ador, has been working on the paperwork for Hani's visa extension, she refused to sign. He added, Without this visa, she can stay in the country, but she cannot engage in economic activities. In response, Ador has declined to provide an official confirmation. Hani is reported to hold dual citizenship as a Vietnamese-Australian. The E-6 visa, which is issued under the condition of employment, requires several documents, including: ▲ a copy of the exclusive contract with an agency registered under the Cultural Industry Promotion Act, ▲ a letter of guarantee from the inviting agency's representative, and ▲ a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Last year, the members of NewJeans announced that their trust with Ador had been irreparably damaged and decided to pursue independent activities. They chose the name NJZ and revealed that they will perform under this new name at a concert in Hong Kong from the 21st to the 23rd of next month. As discussions arise about whether Hani's visa issuance will affect their domestic activities, there is also a possibility that the NJZ members will sign contracts with a new agency, allowing them to navigate the administrative processes necessary for economic activities in Korea. In this regard, Hyein mentioned during a live broadcast, We will soon have an agent (agency), so there's no need to worry too much.
