숏폼부터 70년대 프랑스 SF까지…제30회 BIFAN, 경계 허문 기획전

제30회 부천국제판타스틱영화제(이하 BIFAN)는 두 개의 섹션 속 기획 프로그램인 '플랫폼 기획전: 숏폼 시네마'와 '프랑스 SF: 사유하는 시간과 공상'을 공개했다. '판타스케이프' 섹션에 속한 '플랫폼 기획전: 숏폼 시네마'에서 최근 한국 영상 산업에서 급부상하고 있는 숏폼 영화 4편을 상영한다. 특히 올해는 영화계의 많은 연출자들이 짧은 형식(숏폼) 영화에 도전하며 숏폼 영화의 시작을 알렸다. 장르를 통해 영화의 경계를 실험하고, OTT나 AI 영화 등 새로운 매체와 기술을 언제나 적극적으로 포용하는 BIFAN은 올해 숏폼 영화를 다루며 한 뼘 더 영화제의 영토를 넓힌다. 먼저 주목할 작품은 이준익 감독의 '아버지의 집밥'이다. 갑자기 요리법을 잊은 아내 대신 요리를 시작한 아버지의 이야기로 정진영, 이정은, 변요한 등이 출연한다. 이원석 감독의 '사랑하는 죽음'은 죽음을 선택했지만 죽지 못하는 상황에 처한 사람들의 이야기로 심자윤이 주연을 맡았다. 이 두 영화는 BIFAN에서 최초로 공개되며 세로로 상영되어 관객들에게 새로운 극장 경험을 선사할 예정이다. 또 다른 두 편의 영화는 이미 플랫폼을 통해 세로 형식의 숏폼 드라마로 공개된 작품이, 가로 형식의 장편영화로 재편집되어 상영된다. 김성호 감독의 '와인드업 : 더 무비'는 고교 야구부를 배경으로 하는 드라마로, 보이 그룹 NCT의 제노와 재민이 주인공을 맡았다. 뮤직 비디오 출신의 정주 감독이 연출한 '방과후 퇴마클럽 : 소녀들의 밤'은 기묘한 일이 일어나는 여고를 지키는 학생들의 이야기로 주연을 맡은 걸 그룹 피프티피프티가 부천을 찾아 관객과의 대화 시간을 갖는다. '스트레인지 오마쥬' 섹션에서 '프랑스 SF: 사유하는 시간과 공상'이라는 제목으로 5편의 영화가 상영된다. 이번 상영전은 30회를 맞은 BIFAN과 '한불 수교 140주년'이라는 두 역사적 이정표를 연결하여 시간의 축적과 과거에 대한 향수를 사유하는 프로그램이다. 영화에서 '시간'이 테마로 작동할 때 종종 연결되는 SF 장르는 프랑스 문화와 영화의 맥락 속에서 독창적으로 변주되어 왔으며, 그 결과 특유의 철학적 사유와 미학이 두드러지는 독자적 스타일의 프랑스 SF 영화가 등장했다. 먼저 르네 랄루 감독의 애니메이션 '판타스틱 플래닛'(1973)은 칸영화제 심사위원특별상 수상작으로, 색감과 그림체에서 개성적 작품 세계의 극단을 보여준다. 뤽 베송의 데뷔작 '마지막 전투'(1983)는 디스토피아적 미래를 배경으로 거의 대사 없이 액션으로만 전개되는 영화다. 프랑스 장르영화 거장의 초심을 만날 수 있는 작품이다. 마르크 카로와 장 피에르 주네가 만든 '잃어버린 아이들의 도시'(1995)도 빼놓을 수 없다. 그로테스크한 이미지를 향연으로, 영화 100주년이었던 1995년 칸영화제 개막작이었다. 가장 최근작인 '애프터 블루'(2021)은 오직 여성만이 살아남을 수 있는 행성과 기묘한 미래의 이야기로 시체스국제영화제에서 심사위원특별상을 받았다. 해당 기획전은 주한 프랑스 대사관 문화과의 후원으로 진행되며, 연계 소책자를 제작하여 해당 상영작 관람객에게 무료로 배포할 예정이다. 독특한 프로그램들을 밀도 있게 준비하며 관객을 기다리고 있는 30회 부천국제판타스틱영화제는 7월 2일에 개막하여 7월 12일까지 부천시 일대에서 개최된다. 올해는 더 뜨겁다…미쟝센단편영화제, 예매 오픈 1시간 만에 전석 매진

제22회 미쟝센단편영화제가 예매 시작과 동시에 전 회차 매진을 기록했다. 제22회 미쟝센단편영화제 측은 지난 6월 4일(목) 오후 2시 예매 오픈 1시간여 만에 폐막작을 포함한 총 39회차 티켓이 모두 매진됐다 고 밝혔다. 올해 영화제에서는 총 1,667편의 출품작 가운데 엄정한 심사를 거쳐 선정된 44편의 작품이 관객들과 만난다. 드라마 장르 '고양이를 부탁해', 로맨스·멜로 장르 '질투는 나의 힘', 코미디 장르 '품행제로', 공포·판타지 장르 '기담', 액션·스릴러 장르 '인정사정 볼 것 없다'까지 다섯 개 장르 섹션을 통해 동시대 한국 단편영화의 가장 새로운 흐름과 감각을 선보일 예정이다. 또한, 김민하, 이솔희, 이상민 감독의 단편 상영과 관객과의 대화(GV) 등이 예정되어 있으며, 이를 포함해 총 47편의 작품을 만나볼 수 있다. 심사에는 이병헌 감독이 심사위원장을 맡고 김도영, 김형주, 오승욱, 이옥섭, 남궁선, 황동혁, 홍의정, 김병우, 박누리 감독이 본선 심사위원으로 참여한다. 배우 정해인, 최수영, 조정석, 심은경, 이민호는 명예심사위원으로 함께한다. 영화제는 오는 6월 18일(목)부터 23일(화)까지 6일간 CGV용산아이파크몰에서 개최된다. 민주당 12·국민의힘 4…서울 오세훈 '대역전극'

Choi Minsik Obsesses Over Genius Choi Hyun-wook in Netflix's 'Notes from the Last Row': A Breathless Teacher-Student Suspense

Actor Choi Minsik and rising star Choi Hyun-wook are set to deliver intense suspense in the upcoming Netflix series Notes from the Last Row. The new Netflix series Notes from the Last Row (written by Jang Myung-woo, directed by Kim Kyu-tae) is a suspense drama. It follows Heo Mun-oh (played by Choi Minsik), a Korean literature professor consumed by a sense of defeat after failing to write anything new since publishing his sole novel 20 years ago. His life takes a turn when he discovers the genius of Lee Kang (played by Choi Hyun-wook), a mysterious student sitting in the very back row of his classroom, and becomes increasingly obsessed with his writing. On June 4, Netflix captured the attention of viewers worldwide by releasing the first character stills of lead actors Choi Minsik and Choi Hyun-wook. The newly released character stills dramatically capture the contrasting vibes of the two characters. In stark contrast to Heo Mun-oh, the Korean literature professor passionately teaching from the lecture hall podium, Lee Kang sits in the very back row, staring indifferently out the window as if completely uninterested in the class. In particular, a still showing the two facing off alone in a study radiates a subtle tension and psychological warfare, raising curiosity about what kind of catastrophe their secret literature lessons will bring. The legendary Choi Minsik, an actor who needs no introduction, will show a completely new side of himself as Heo Mun-oh―a sharp, blunt professor who is instantly captivated by the boy's genius and begins to spiral out of control. Alongside him, Choi Hyun-wook, who has been gaining attention for his unrivaled acting skills, transforms into Lee Kang, a boy with an unreadable and mysterious aura, promising the most intense performance of his filmography yet. Director Kim Kyu-tae showered both actors with praise. Expressing his deep trust, Director Kim shared, Through Choi Minsik's performance, the complex and multi-dimensional character of Heo Mun-oh, with layers of built-up emotions, was fully realized. He captures intricate expressions in a split second and transitions through emotional shifts as naturally as flowing water. SBS's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated is raising anticipation by releasing first-look stills of Joo Sang-wook and Son Na-eun in their shocking new transformations. Scheduled to premiere on Friday, June 26, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated (written by Nam Dae-joong, directed by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun) is a father-universe revenge action drama. It follows a most ordinary father who becomes the most dangerous man to fight a desperate battle to rescue his only daughter. In the series, Joo Sang-wook plays Ju Gang-chan, a ruthless figure who started as a hired thug and rose to become the chairman of Juhak Construction―a legendary rags-to-riches story who resolves everything with money and violence. On the other hand, Son Na-eun portrays Sang-a, a mysterious colleague who works at the same company as the protagonist, Manager Kim (played by So Ji-sub). She is a sharp-witted coworker who helps him navigate the difficulties of raising his daughter, Minji, while harboring her own secrets. The two characters are set to become deeply entangled with So Ji-sub's titular character, serving as the main drivers of the drama's conflict and mystery. The newly released stills on June 4 instantly capture attention with the actors' striking visuals. First, Joo Sang-wook exudes a chilling, intimidating presence in a sauna, revealing burn scars covering his body and a sharp, piercing gaze. In contrast, Son Na-eun, dressed in neat office wear, looks like a savvy Gen Z employee who speaks her mind. However, her suspicious gaze as she closely watches Manager Kim's every move heightens the mystery surrounding her character. Taking on his first villain role since his debut, Joo Sang-wook shared his excitement: I decided to join the project because the original webtoon is so powerful, and the fast-paced, relentless plot is incredibly entertaining. He added, The various facets of evil portrayed by Ju Gang-chan felt very interesting and fresh to me as an actor. I focused on visually conveying an intimidating and dark aura while maintaining the dignity of a construction company chairman. Son Na-eun, making her return in a genre series, also expressed her determination: I was intrigued by Sang-a, a character with mysterious secrets, and the genre itself was an exciting new challenge for me. She continued, This character required more preparation and attention to detail than any role I've played before. I put a lot of thought into everything from her head-to-toe appearance to her speech patterns and gestures to truly embody Sang-a.
